Dallas Cowboys top 5 preseason performers so far
The Dallas Cowboys‘ first preseason game resulted in a 16-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday night. Despite the loss, it was great to see the ‘boys back on the field.
Many of the starters were not playing in this game, so we were able to learn a lot about the young players on the roster. Some of the younger guys stood out in a big way and made a case for more playing time throughout the rest of the preseason.
Without further ado, here are the Cowboys’ five stars of the preseason so far…
5. Garrett Gilbert, QB
Gilbert started the game at quarterback and was by far the best of the three QBs that played in the game for the Cowboys. He led the offense on their only scoring drive of the game, a field goal.
Gilbert was 9-13 for 104 yards and a quarterback rating of 93.1. Once he left the game the offense was basically unable to move the ball at all.
The former Texas Longhorn did have some plays where he held onto the ball for too long which resulted in sacks. But, he looks like the leader in the clubhouse to be Dak Prescott’s backup after one preseason game.
