It’s that time of year again. When Madden releases their ratings for NFL players prior to the massively popular video game’s release on Friday, August 20. For fans of the Dallas Cowboys, a roster chock full of star power, the real question is how many members of America’s Team were rated highest among their peers.
This week, the good folks over at EA Sports have been slowly rolling out the ratings for NFL players within their unreleased game, particularly those who were rated in the 90s. Apparently, there are three Cowboys that Madden 22 will rank in that range when the game launches next month.
The official Twitter account for the team announced the three Cowboys with ratings in the 90s. Those players are right guard Zack Martin with an overall rating of 98, wide receiver Amari Cooper with a 92 overall rating, and left tackle Tyron Smith with a rating of 91 overall.
Madden 22 has apparently given Martin the highest rating of any Cowboys player entering the 2021 regular season. The six-time All-Pro received a strength rating of 95 and a toughness rating of 96.
Cooper ranks eighth among all NFL wide receivers in overall rating entering the season. Madden 22 has the four-time Pro Bowl wideout rated a 95 in catching, a 95 in speed, and a 91 in agility.
Despite only playing two games in 2020 due to injuries, Tyron Smith still cracked Madden’s 90 club. The future Hall of Famer got a rating of 96 in strength and 92 in awareness.
Just missing the cut was Cowboys’ running back Ezekiel Elliott, which makes sense coming off a down season. Madden 22 gave Elliott an overall rating of 88, which makes him the eighth highest-rated running back in the game. Zeke also has an 88 rating for stiff arm. Ironically, his backup, Tony Pollard, is one of the fastest running backs in Madden 22 with a speed rating of 93.
Update: The overall rating for quarterback Dak Prescott has now been released. Madden 22 has the sixth-year passer ranked eighth among all NFL QBs with an overall rating of 87.
More player ratings should be released throughout the day leading to a SportsCenter Special: The EA Madden ’22 Ratings show airing Friday night at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and on the ESPN App.
