Could the Dallas Cowboys really land Xavien Howard?
By Angel Torres
The Dallas Cowboys got off to a great start to begin training camp and it appears as if this defense is going to have a few bright spots after all. Cornerback Trevon Diggs spent time in the offseason working out with his brother and it is looking like it has paid off.
Rookie corners Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright look like they will be early contributors on what initially looked like a bare secondary cupboard in the offseason. Veterans like Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis, and Maurice Canady all look like they will provide veteran depth throughout the season as well.
So why is it that the Dallas Cowboys are linked yet again to another star player that has officially asked for a trade from their current team? It probably has to do with the player liking an image on social media of himself photoshopped wearing the star on the side of his helmet.
Miami Dolphins star cornerback Xavien Howard has officially asked his team for a trade and although linking a star player to Dallas is an instant way to generate headlines, there are whispers as if the Dallas Cowboys might have reciprocated their affection for the player.
The team doing their due diligence is one thing and not necessarily an indication the team is going “all-in” for a player but it is an interesting idea.
Xavien Howard the player is a guy who has 22 interceptions in 56 games which is one of the most insane stats I have looked up in recent memory. Howard is part of the 2016 draft class which by the way, the Dallas Cowboys did a great job drafting that year. I’m sure they’ve reviewed notes they took on his initial evaluation.
