Despite being drafted in 2015, this will be the first full offseason training program for defensive end Randy Gregory. And that’s mainly due to his previous suspensions for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

With his demons appearing to be behind him, Gregory is finally ready to take his place as the Cowboys’ primary pass rusher. And the early returns appear promising. Entering a contract year, and set to be the Week One starter opposite DeMarcus Lawrence, the 28-year old edge rusher will have every opportunity to fulfill his potential in Dallas this season.

In seven games last season, and despite only playing 25% of the defensive snaps, Gregory was still able to record 21 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and four tackles for loss. He also racked up 12 QB hits, the second-most on the entire team.

With a former defensive line coach as his new defensive coordinator in Dan Quinn, Gregory is primed to have his best season in Dallas. We’ve already started to see signs of that impending success through the first week of training camp. And it should only get better from here.
