The Dallas Cowboys need Ezekiel Elliott to help them avoid falling back into some of the same holes they fell into last season

The Dallas Cowboys were a team last season that really saw their luck run dry. Last season’s deficiencies were those of the crippling type if you are a football team.

That’s at any level, nonetheless, at the highest level of the National Football League.

Defense

The Dallas Cowboys defense was among the worst in the league last season. Not only that, from a statistical standpoint outright but especially when it came time to make a big stop, they were laughably embarrassing to watch.

With the defense trying to make a comeback of their own under a new defensive coordinator, they’ll need all the help they can get from the offensive side of the ball. The way you do that is with game, ball, and clock control… basically with the ground game.

That’s the first reason why Ezekiel Elliott will need to get back to form.

Questionable Line

The Dallas Cowboys have had one of the best offensive fronts to be assembled over the last several seasons. Well, that was prior to last season.

Dealing with injury and turnover alike, they weren’t their typical selves up front on that side of the ball last season either. Now, while that could have been the anomaly, with them being able to restore health and get the newer guys acclimated quickly this year, it might be the new reality.

If it is and until it can be whipped or built back into shape, then the Zeke is probably the best option, believe it or not. It won’t be so much his running of the ball, as much as his ability to impact things in the quick short passing game.

That’s the second reason.
