The Dallas Cowboys appeared to have come away with one of the best classes following the results of the 2020 NFL Draft last year. But only time allows draft picks to be judged properly.

And while it’s far too early to judge the rookies from last season, we can try to look ahead to year two and project which players will develop and by how much. So let’s break down the 2020 draft class heading into their second season …

CeeDee Lamb, WR

By all accounts, last year was a massive success for surprising first-round selection CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys’ strategy to select the best available player over team need seems to have landed Dallas its next superstar wide receiver. Expect Lamb to near the century mark for receptions and exceed 1,000 yards if quarterback Dak Prescott can remain under center all season long.

2021 Stat Projection: 93 receptions, 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns

Trevon Diggs, CB

The Cowboys called upon second-round rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs to start earlier than they probably should have due to injuries. And it showed with Diggs being fairly inconsistent with his play all season. But he also flashed the potential to be a dynamic ballhawk and playmaker. We project the 22-year old will record the most interceptions by a Cowboys’ defender since 2014.

2021 Stat Projection: 70 total tackles, 17 pass defends, five interceptions
