The Dallas Cowboys probably get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to national rankings but changes when it comes to the Madden NFL video game. While everyone is impatiently waiting for training camps to start, this is a prime time to talk about some off-the-field headlines that many NFL players pay attention to.

There have been some instances where NFL players gripe at the curators of this legendary game in order to try and change their overall rating. It always felt silly to me to gripe at a rating that comes with more questions than answers. Madden is so popular and intertwined with pop culture that many feel so slighted by the results that it apparently forces their hand to make their feelings public.

This also forced my hand to attempt to figure out how the good folks at EA compile their list.

The Dallas Cowboys star power on the offensive side should dominate the Madden headlines but there are a couple of promising young players on this Dallas Cowboys defense that could make a push for a ratings change during the 2021 NFL season.

Last season the Madden team rolled out the top players with the 99 rating and it felt like it created a gigantic open census session amongst all the active and former players who believed they or players on their team should have been on that 99 list.

Some of those players should have complained louder as Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers and current NFL MVP entered the Madden series with a 95 overall rating. That put Rodgers at a very respectable 19th place but had him behind players such as Von Miller, Nick Chubb, and even his own teammate David Bakhtiari.

No disrespect to those players listed above but I would take Rodgers over them every day of the week. I would even take Rodgers over four of the six 99 rated players from last season. The only players I would take over Rodgers are Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Kansas City Quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Madden rating is more of a popularity contest just like I believe the Pro Bowl is so people shouldn’t get too upset with their rating. I also believe that there are a couple of Dallas Cowboys players who should voice their concern over their slight. Lucky for them, I am here to set the record straight on the Dallas Cowboys Madden ratings.
