NFL Draft 2021: Dallas Cowboys select OG Matt Farniok No. 238 overall
In the seventh round of the draft, NFL teams often take a flier on players they are not wanting to risk hitting the open market as an undrafted rookie free agent. And the Dallas Cowboys owned the 238th overall selection to do just that.
The Cowboys had a whopping 11 draft picks to make in the 2021 NFL Draft. And the majority of those selections were used to address needs on the defensive side of the ball on every level.
The crown jewel obviously being Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons, who was selected 12th overall in the first round. Kentucky cornerback Kelvin Joseph will also be expected to make a big impact as a rookie who Dallas selected with their second-round pick, 44th overall.
While Parsons and Joseph are the marquee names, Dallas was also able to snag a couple of potential draft steals. The Cowboys caught a falling Jabril Cox in the fourth round, the highly-touted linebacker out of LSU. Dallas also used one of their sixth-round selections to land themselves a true nose tackle in Kentucky’s Quinton Bohanna.
And with their final selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cowboys picked up Nebraska offensive lineman Matt Farniok with the 238th overall selection in the seventh round.

Playing mostly at tackle for Nebraska, but also having played at guard and a game at center as well, the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Farniok offers O-line versatility for a unit that was ravaged by injuries in 2020. He projects as a better interior lineman and could potentially be a developing reserve to fill the void left by former guard/center Joe Looney.
