Third Round (75th overall)- Alim McNeill, Defensive tackle, North Carolina State

2020 stats: 11 games played, 26 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one interception

Defensive tackle has been a concern for the Cowboys over the past few years as they have spent top three-round selections on Trysten Hill and Neville Gallimore the past two drafts.

But, have still not gotten consistent play from any of their interior defensive linemen. Now that Tyrone Crawford has retired, D-line has become even more of a priority.

McNeil is a big-bodied (6’2” 320lb.) defensive tackle that could step in and immediately become a starter in Dallas. He was first-team All-ACC in 2020 and even showed off his athleticism returning an interception for a touchdown.

Stopping the run has been a major problem in Dallas. Allowing 158.8 rushing yards per game in 2020, which ranked 31st in the NFL.

Bringing in McNeil would give the Cowboys a big run-stuffer that can help improve this abysmal run defense from years past.
