Second Round (44th overall) – Nick Bolton, Linebacker, Missouri

2020 stats: 10 games played, 95 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, five passes defended

The constant injuries issues with Cowboys linebacker, Leighton Vander Esch and the inconsistent play of Jaylon Smith should have the Cowboys firmly in the linebacker market.

Missouri linebacker Nick Bolton would be a great selection for the Cowboys in the second round. Bolton is a hard-hitting middle linebacker that can re-shape the Cowboys defense with his physical play style.

Bolton is also an extremely durable player as he did not miss a game in his college career. Having a linebacker you can count on to take the field every week is exceedingly valuable in the NFL.

According to Pro Football Focus, Bolton has 77 run stops over his last two college seasons. Which was 17 more than any other player in the SEC.

Pro-day testing has a big impact on most players’ draft value, which is why Bolton may fall in the draft as he did not test as well as other linebackers in this class. But, at the end of the day, the Cowboys need good football players, and Bolton qualifies.
