No Tre’Von Moehrig, no problem, right? Realistically, I don’t see the Cowboys camp spending a second-rounder on a safety. I’d be happy if they did, but I just don’t see Jerry Jones pushing for safety after spending the first pick on a cornerback.

Numbers, please?

In 2020, Johnson totaled 43 tackles, 1.0 sack, three pass deflections, a forced fumbled, and a whopping four interceptions. He played three seasons with Indiana, where he grabbed seven total interceptions.

Dan Quinn throws a punch

Since the Dallas Cowboys signed defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, the team brought in former Falcons safeties, Keanu Neal and Damontae Kazee. Will that be enough?

In this mock draft, the Dallas Cowboys picked up Surtain (cornerback), Jamin Davis (linebacker), and now, Jamar Johnson. Dan Quinn is getting some firepower, and that should surprise nobody considering how the 2020 defensive forecast played out.

Quinn must get some quick work in to patch this defense up. I don’t really like Jamar Johnson in the second round, but using the 75th overall pick is ideal.

If the Dallas Cowboys are to move away from their embarrassing episodes of 2020, they’ll have to pick up new defensive sources in the 2021 NFL Draft. Johnson is a nice grab here and will provide the safeties with some competition.
