Cowboys trade shakes up strategy in new mock draft

Round 4, pick 138, Tommy Tremble, TE- Notre Dame
The Dallas Cowboys saw a handful of their own free agents get picked up by opposing teams’ this offseason. That includes Dallas’s backup tight end Blake Bell, who was recently signed by the Kansas City Chiefs. This created a spot on the organization for another player at the position and the Cowboys attempt to fill that spot with tight end Tommy Tremble with this pick.
The 22-year old did not have high-end production during his two-years’ at Notre Dame. He finished his career with 401 receiving yards and four touchdowns. However, he did manage to show some flashes of brilliance as both a pass catcher and blocker during his collegiate career.
The six-foot-three, 241-pound prospect put those abilities on full display during his impressive performance at his Pro Day. The young pass-catcher managed to post an impressive 4.59 (unofficial) 40-yard dash and a 36.5-inch vertical jump.
Currently, the Cowboys have two fairly good tight ends on their roster in Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz. Fans of America’s Team hope that Jarwin, who is currently recovering from a season-ending ACL tear last season, can step up and turn into a productive player at the position. Schultz had 63 catches and over 600 receiving yards in Jarwins’ absence last season.
The Dallas Cowboys draft a tight-end with a high-upside with this selection while adding to what is seemingly a position of strength. However, this move should also be viewed as an insurance pick just in case Jarwin can not turn into the player that fans expect him to be.
