Cowboys address biggest need first in new seven-round mock 2.0

Round 7, pick 237, JaCoby Stevens, Safety- LSU
The Dallas Cowboys wrap up the 2021 NFL Draft by taking one last shot to try and address their needs in the secondary. The team does this by selecting safety JaCoby Stevens.
Stevens first came to LSU as a wide receiver during his freshman year and only managed to get two catches and 32 yards at the position during that year. Thankfully, the young prospect was moved to play safety for LSU for the remainder of his collegiate career.
The young defender played three seasons at the safety position for the Tigers and managed to rack up four interceptions, 15 pass deflections, and 9.5 sacks during the process. His best statistical season came back in 2019 when he managed to get three interceptions, nine tackles for a loss, and five sacks.
As you can probably see, the 22-year old is gifted at getting to the passer for a player at his position. This is a facet of his game that could certainly help the Cowboys, which finished last season with only 31 sacks, tied for the 13th fewest in the league.
The fact that he faced NFL-level talent while playing in the SEC should only add to his value with this pick. Even with the recent signings of Kazee and Kearse, America’s Team goes out and adds depth to the position with its last pick in the draft. The team is also hoping that his unique skillset redounds to their benefit at some point.
