The Dallas Cowboys will be looking to add future cornerstone players in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. Finding the most talented players, that also fit the Cowboys scheme will be a tough task.

The NFL Draft has always been the best way to build a championship-level roster. Throughout history, there have been great players drafted in every round.

For this list, I took into account when the player was drafted and how much success/production they had with the Cowboys. The value of each pick and the positional value of the player also came into account.

With the NFL Draft a little more than a month away, let us take a look at the Cowboys’ five best draft picks since 2010.

#5 – DeMarcus Lawrence, DE – Second Round (2014)

DeMarcus “Tank” Lawrence has been a staple on the Cowboys’ defensive line since they took him out of Boise State. Lawrence has been durable throughout his career, playing in 96 games since 2014.

Also, he has not missed a game any of the last four seasons. Lawrence has recorded 45.5 sacks since his debut, which ranks seventh in Cowboys’ history.

Likewise, his 14.5 sacks in 2017, ranked fourth for most sacks in a single-season in Cowboys history. Trailing only future Hall-of-Famer DeMarcus Ware, who reached 15+ three times.

Also, “Tank” has earned 93 quarterback hits in his seven seasons. Meanwhile, he has been quite effective in run-support as he has racked up 69 tackles for loss in his career.

Heading into 2021, the Cowboys will continue to rely on Lawrence to be their best pass rusher and he will need to perform to help out what could be a young secondary.
