The Dallas Cowboys entered this offseason with a plethora of needs that were heavily skewed towards the defensive side of the ball. The team has thus far had a relatively quiet start to the free agency period with the most notable move coming when the team signed safety Keanu Neal. The 25-year old defender will reportedly play weakside linebacker for the team next year.

Though the Cowboys’ free agency period has been underwhelming thus far the team has reportedly held meetings with several defensive free agents including safety Malik Hooker. The team also holds a whopping ten draft picks in the upcoming NFL draft to potentially address their needs.

Understandably the team’s first-round pick, the tenth overall in the draft, has received the bulk of the attention thus far from fans and analysts. However, drafts are (usually) not made with a single pick and that means that the organization, as well as fans and analysts, must be invested in making every single pick count.

Following the Dallas Cowboys’ first-round selection, the team is scheduled to make the 44th overall pick in the draft in the second round. Here is my list of the top five realistic and potential selections for the Cowboys with their first pick on Day Two.
