4 biggest Cowboys needs after signing Keanu Neal
By Connor Green
After a quiet start to free agency, the Dallas Cowboys have finally made a (somewhat) significant move by agreeing to sign safety Keanu Neal. The addition will almost certainly bolster the teams’ defense, regardless of what position Neal ends up playing for Dallas. The former Atlanta Falcon defender posted an impressive 100 total tackles and nine tackles for a loss last season.
The move also allows fans of America’s Team to have a better sense of the teams’ needs at this moment in time. The organization headed into the offseason with a plethora of needs that were heavily skewed towards the defensive side of the ball. Then the team spent much of the first week of free agency addressing their special teams and making a handful of underwhelming signings along the defensive line.
The signing of Neal is the most significant signing the organization has made thus far though the team is reportedly scheduled to meet with several other defensive free agents including safety Malik Hooker.
The Dallas Cowboys also have a whopping 10 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, starting with the tenth overall pick. Needless to say, the team still has plenty of time and opportunities to address some of their greatest needs both through the remainder of free agency and the draft.
Obviously, the organization will have a better sense of these needs over the coming weeks, and when the team decides what position their newest acquisition will actually play for Dallas (linebacker, safety, both?).
However, in the aftermath of the most significant move America’s Team has made thus far since the unofficial start to the free agency period (Obviously, this move was not more significant than re-signing quarterback Dak Prescott) it might be a good time to take stock of the teams’ needs.
With those caveats in place here is a list of the four biggest positions of needs for the Dallas Cowboys at this moment.
