2. Keanu Neal, Safety

The Dallas Cowboys secondary was pitiful in 2020. The unit was one of only seven that allowed opposing passers to have a passer rating above 100. It also struggled to get takeaways, a struggle that continued from 2019.

Needless to say, the Cowboys are in dire need of help in their secondary. That need obviously extends to the safety position. That particular need is only exacerbated by the fact that the team currently has one of its starting safeties, Xavier Woods, heading into free agency this offseason.

This need will also be harder to address than the cornerback position in the draft due to the dearth of talent of the position in this years’ draft class. However, that need could be sufficiently addressed if Dallas signs safety Keanu Neal.

The 25-year old defender has played his entire five-year career thus far with the Atlanta Falcons and managed to get named to a Pro Bowl back in 2017. Last season he had 100 total tackles, the third time in his young career he has reached at least 100.

The six-foot-one defender would provide Dallas with an instant improvement to the safety position. The move would also reunite Neal with his former head coach Dan Quinn who was recently hired as the Cowboys defensive coordinator.

The potential signing also has an aura of plausibility given the recent reports that the Cowboys are one of several teams interested in the young safety.

The Dallas Cowboys would be wise to pursue Keanu Neal moving forward. Bringing him in to play alongside the teams’ promising young safety Donovan Wilson would possibly give the organization the best pairing at the position they have had in quite some time.
