Round 3, Pick 35: Patrick Jones II

• Defensive End, Pittsburgh
• Height/Weight: 6-5, 260 lbs.

First impressions?

Patrick Jones went into a beast mode during his final two seasons in college. He accumulated 86 tackles, four pass deflections, four forced fumbles, and 17.5 sacks. He played four seasons with Pittsburgh.

His body type reminds me of Randy Gregory, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds. By selecting Jones, I have drafted three total linemen (offense and defense) and a safety. Clearly, the Dallas Cowboys need to fix their battles in the trenches.

Value pick?

Jones added some key awards to his belt in 2019 and 2020. He earned the Consensus First-team All-American (2020), First-team All-ACC (2020), and Second-team All-ACC (2019).

During his final season with Pittsburgh, Jones gathered himself career highs. Last season, he earned 44 tackles, 9.0 sacks, three pass deflections and one fumble recovered.

It appears Jones is only getting better and better. Hopefully, he can extend the momentum in the NFL, triggering the needle, and continue to improve. The Dallas Cowboys must address defensive line help. Jones would be a nice fit.
