#2. Joe Philbin, Offensive Line Coach

Even if Mike McCarthy opts to become the offensive playcaller, he will not let the offensive coordinator position remain unfilled. The logical choice would be Joe Philbin, the Cowboys’ current offensive line coach.

After all, Philbin was the offensive coordinator under McCarthy in Green Bay for six years. That includes 2010 when both men helped to lead the Packers to a Super Bowl victory.

Hot off a successful 15-1 season in 2011, Philbin left Green Bay to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins. He’d remain in Miami for four years before returning to coach under McCarthy with the Packers again as the offensive coordinator in 2018.

Both McCarthy and Philbin clearly have a strong working relationship as the former has left the door open for the latter for the last decade, even bringing him along to Dallas this year. And that connection is one that’s led to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy before.
