3. DeMarcus Lawrence, Defensive End

The last slide mentioned the Dallas Cowboys’ habit of occasionally making questionable signings. Until recently, that list included the five-year, $105 million dollar extension of defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence last year. However, the 28-year old has managed to turnaround his season and find a spot on this list.

After failing to record a single sack in the teams’ first four games Tank has put together an impressive stretch of play. Lawrence has 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery over his past six games.

Lawrence’s’ recent play should come as a relief to fans of America’s Team. After posting back-to-back double-digit sack totals in 2017 and 2018 he only managed to accrue five sacks all of last season. That period of struggle left some Dallas fans feeling concerned whether the organization had once again overpaid one of its stars.

However, his recent turnaround has largely put to rest those concerns, at least for the time being. After emerging as one of the best pass rushers in the league early in his career it is nice to see Tank return to his usual habit of making opposing quarterbacks squirm.
