4 notes to digest before the Dallas Cowboys host Cardinals
4. The fall of the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys will not win this game. The Cardinals are chasing for much more in the NFC West and at 3-2, I’m expecting some fireworks on their end.
The Cardinals are coming off a blowout win against the New York Jets, curbing the Big Apple 30-10. Yes, the Jets are 0-5. But save the Cowboys from a historic onside kick against the Falcons and an eerie final field goal against the Giants, the ‘Boys could be staring at a whole different ballpark.
Murray just thrashed the Jets with 380 passing yards. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins went “All-Madden” mode, catching six balls for 131 yards and one score. He averaged 21.8 yards a catch.
So what does this all mean? Well frankly, good luck Mike Nolan. I saw a lot of cheers for him on the sidelines against the New York Giants, and the defensive coordinator will need a little more of that to cache over to the Cardinals game.
Arizona is coming in hot. I don’t like this one at all. Trevon Diggs is clearly the best option to cover Hopkins. But you know, since it’s the Dallas Cowboys, we’ll probably see Hopkins on an island against a cornerback who is fourth on the depth chart.
Andy Dalton gives a favorable effort, but the offensive line woes prove to be too much. The Dallas Cowboys miss the dual-threat of Prescott, who masked the troubles on the front line with his feet and right arm.
The Cowboys attempt to install the running blueprint of Ezekiel Elliott, but the failed software upgrade crumbles when the holes don’t open. This won’t be pretty. Give me, Cowboys 17, Cardinals 37.
