4 notes to digest before the Dallas Cowboys host Cardinals
3. The danger in a stranger
Quarterback Kyler Murray is averaging 7.2 yards on the ground. This isn’t something fun to ponder about when you consider the Cowboys have a few leaks on the run defense. The Big D defense has been a national, historical embarrassment, and now they find themselves scheming against a running quarterback.
The first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, who turned 23 last August, has tucked the ball 41 times for nearly 300 rushing yards. In five games, he has five rushing scores and nine overall for his career. Kenyan Drake, the Cardinals leading rusher, has only 18 yards more than Murray.
As a passer, Murray has completed nearly 70 percent of his passes and has nearly 1,300 passing yards. His overall quarterback rating stands at 90.9.
Daniel Jones of the Giants struggled at the quarterback spot during the first four games of the year. But the Dallas defense made him look legit, allowing him to finish with 222 yards and an 80.6 rating. Jones and Murray are two different quarterbacks. I am expecting Murray to slice and dice his way through Texas.
