Sean Lee, LB

Linebacker Sean Lee is a person that I could see coming in and helping this defense. His ability to locate the ball might still be the best out of this entire linebacking core. That was never his issue as the ability to stay healthy has eluded this football warrior.

Cutting Lee would leave a $2 million dollar dead hit but it would give the Cowboys 2.5 million dollars worth of cap space. It is entirely possible that Lee doesn’t suit up for the Cowboys this season making his $4.5 million contract-free Lee money.

I have to imagine that the front office thinks that he can recover in time to contribute to what looks like one of the worst defenses in the entire league. The Dallas Cowboys do have to be mindful of the rules of releasing injured players but Lee’s contract is starting to look like a parting gift to someone who gave this organization all he had.

I’m not sure what a release would look like as coming to an injury settlement with Lee could be more costly than keeping hope he could return. I am putting Lee in a maybe category as he could do the franchise a favor by moving on himself and get some of his salary off the Cowboys books.
