As the Dallas Cowboys tried to become a .500 team, they’d end up losing again in Week Four

On Sunday, the 1-2 Dallas Cowboys faced the 2-1 Cleveland Browns at AT&T Stadium in a Week Four matchup. In the first half of the game, the Cowboys had a very hard time on defense. They watched as the Browns burned them for four touchdowns on their first five drives. Cleveland also kicked a field goal and punted only once in the first half.

Star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caught five passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the first half alone. He took advantage of defensive back Daryl Worley scoring both of his touchdowns against him. Tight end Austin Hooper also pitched in a touchdown against Worley.

It didn’t help that offensively, the Cowboys had some trouble as well. While they scored points early, two fumbles allowed the Browns to take a good lead. Defensive end, Myles Garrett sacked quarterback Dak Prescott two times, with one of them being a strip-sack.

There was no answer for Garrett, as he was constantly bullying the right tackle, Terrence Steele. Even when he wasn’t taking down Prescott, he made his presence known.

On top of that, Dallas could not stop the Browns’ rushing attack. That’s despite starting running back Nick Chubb leaving early into the game with an injury. The Browns had 164 rushing yards in the first half alone.

At halftime, the Browns were up 31-14

The last time Cleveland scored 28 points in the first half was in 1991 … that’s 29 years ago! A touchdown for Cleveland on their first drive of the second gave them 38 points. It’s the first time Dallas gave up 38+ points for three consecutive weeks since 1960, the teams first-ever season in the NFL.

You can say Dallas only gave up 10 points in the third quarter, but they still had no answer to defending the run. In the fourth quarter, the Cowboys were trying to make a comeback. They started it with three straight quick touchdowns.

What was once a 27-point deficit with 45 seconds left in the third quarter, became a three-point deficit with 3:47 left in the fourth quarter. Somehow, Odell turned what could have been a huge loss of yards, into a 50-yard touchdown run and an extra point-turned two-point conversion.

With 1:36 left in the fourth quarter, Dak threw an interception to seal the loss for the Dallas Cowboys. They have a losing record after four weeks for the first time since the 2010 season.
