6 free agents that still make sense for the Cowboys to consider
Here are some free agents that still makes sense for the Dallas Cowboys as the injuries continue to pile up
The Dallas Cowboys have had more than their fair share of injuries two weeks into the 2020 NFL regular season. Several starters have landed on Injured Reserve (I.R.) forcing the 1-1 Cowboys to test their depth early.
The list of players on I.R. is long and includes notable names like linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, right tackle La’el Collins, cornerback Anthony Brown, linebacker Sean Lee, tight end Blake Jarwin, and others.
In the meantime, America’s Team is struggling to put wins on the board. The Cowboys lost a low-scoring affair against the Los Angeles Rams, 20-17. And Dallas was nearly blown out by the Atlanta Falcons in Week Two, but came back to win the game, 40-39, thanks to some last-minute heroics.
Due to a worldwide pandemic, the league canceled all preseason games. Combine that with virtual-only OTAs and minicamp, plus a stunted training camp schedule, and we are now seeing major injuries occurring across the entire league. And the Cowboys have suffered more than most.
This means acquiring players via free agency is more important than ever. And the Cowboys are certainly a candidate to add some much-needed veteran help right now. Here are six current free agents we believe still make sense for Dallas to consider.
Obviously, the Cowboys aren’t going to sign all of these unemployed vets. But we wouldn’t be surprised to see these names connected to the team, especially considering the number of injuries Dallas is dealing with.
And with other NFL teams also falling victim to the injury bug in serious numbers over the weekend, these free agents are a hot commodity. This is a quickly dwelling list that could make the difference between your team being in the playoffs … or sitting out the postseason.
