Dallas Cowboys almost fumble it away, Dak Prescott delivers and more
The Dallas Cowboys almost fumbled away Sunday’s game if not for some last-minute heroics
The Dallas Cowboys football team is 1-1 and tied for the lead in their division. Effectively tied with the team from Washington at this point, it’s fair to say that they are the outright leaders in the division, if only by the slightest of margins given by quality of team and quarterback.
With that in mind though, the Philadelphia Eagles took another defeat on Sunday, so there is that. That means that when it comes to the other team that most thought would and could challenge to win the division, they now sit a game behind us in the race, which is always a good thing for our hopes of playing past the regular season.
Any who, back to Sunday’s contest …
The Fumbles
On Sunday, three of the Cowboys’ first five drives resulted in fumbles. To make it even worse, they all happened in the first quarter and all resulted in Falcons points. The first two were touchdowns and the last one resulted in field goal points.
The Cowboys almost lost this game before it even got started well. With things like injuries, missed assignments, and other wacky things going on all over the NFL in these first two weeks, the fumble fest was about par for the course, but you can’t have that almost three straight times to begin the game.
You just can’t. With regards to the injuries, the blown plays, and things like the turnovers, and not just for these Cowboys but all over the league in all circumstances, we have to realize that this is only their second week of actual live football, as opposed to the at least six weeks they’ve typically been playing at this point in the season.
The Cowboys were able to get the win in the end and by the grace of the football gods, but things like giving the ball away that many times to begin the game or at any point in a pro football game, will likely get you beat 80 percent of the time.
