Should Dak Prescott’s mental health concern fans performance wise?
Dak Prescott has the stuff to be successful for the Dallas Cowboys
While mental health is always a tug-o-war, back and forth in nature, the fact that he can talk about it is something that lets you know he’s dealing with it well or at least, dealing with it. Knowing that something is happening without sharing it would concern me more than him not sharing it at all. That isn’t as weird as it sounds, follow me here.
Oftentimes and even though a person won’t admit that something is going on, there are tells within their normal way of going about things that will give cues of dysfunction. While we would have been able to see the issues manifest in his performances or moods perhaps, we wouldn’t have known exactly what was happening until or if he shared. That’s what that means.
The reason for that has nothing to do with my comforts of knowing or plain nosiness though, but with that out in the air, his focus doesn’t have to be on guarding his secret, putting up a facade, and thus a happy face to guard his issues but can honestly and freely focus on the business of winning football games.
There is also a trust thing there too. This is as much for his team as it was to continue for him to try to heal, live, be the best he can at that, and at his complicated job as a starting NFL quarterback. Nevermind the fact that he does it for America’s Team and the PR Artist Formerly Known As Jerry Jones.
To reiterate and in closing, no, Dak’s mental health scenario shouldn’t make you wonder about his ability to successfully quarterback the Dallas Cowboys. His being open about it says everything that you need to hear to believe that he actually can be successful.
It all begins Sunday night!
