On Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys must finalize their cuts to get to a 53-man roster
The Dallas Cowboys are mandated by the NFL to cut down their roster to 53 players before the deadline of Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET. The Cowboys opted to start this process early by waiving a few players this past week.
Below, we’ll list the players that are being reported as having been waived or released by the Cowboys in an effort to get down to a 53-man roster by the deadline. We’ll be updating this list throughout the day, so be sure to check back often.

In addition to the above, the Cowboys apparently plan to place linebacker Sean Lee and possibly cornerback Jourdan Lewis plus two others (unnamed) on injured reserve. That according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. Lee is suffering from a sports hernia and Lewis, an ankle injury, per the report.
Correction: It was mistakenly reported that Sean Lee suffered an ankle injury. It was actually Jourdan Lewis. That’s been corrected above. Lee also suffered an undisclosed injury early in training camp, according to the report.
Expect both Lee and Lewis to be part of the 53-man roster by Saturday’s deadline, with the move to IR potentially happening soon afterward. As is the case every year, the final 53-man roster is never truly final. Especially this weekend with hundreds of players hitting free agency or the waiver wire.

One position to watch carefully in the coming days is safety. With presumed starter Xavier Woods dealing with a groin injury and the recent release of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, the Cowboys appear to be a bit thin at the position. Although there has been a recent report that cornerback Chidobe Awuize has been practicing at safety.
