Dallas Cowboys: 5 bold predictions for the 2020 season
#4. Ezekiel Elliott will return to his rookie form (with 2018’s all-around production)
This is a multifaceted prediction, at least reasoning wise. The first reason is this. Ezekiel Elliott has had to listen to an offseason full of criticism, critique, and downright amnesia when it comes to how good he is.
We all know just how good he is, at least we should. However, if you want to motivate anybody about anything or in anything that they are doing, tell them that they aren’t as good as they think they are or as they have been. You’ll truly see what kind of stuff they are made of.
On the other end, you have the same thing going on with Mike McCarthy, except he physically isn’t doing anything on the field.
The way it will manifest itself with him is by him showing and proving. This means that not only is he looking to show that he still has it or wasn’t the issue at his last stop, but his mere philosophy lends itself to a Zeke outburst this season.
McCarthy goes to his best players, a lot, as he relied on the arm of Aaron Rodgers for practically everything (not saying he was wrong at all). What that means here is that you can expect to see a heavy dose of Zeke from all facets, at least that’s what I think.
While I don’t think that he’ll have as many raw rushing carries as he had during his rookie season, I believe the multipleness and the creativity with which McCarthy will use to get the ball in his hands will provide the opportunities to rack up the numbers.
That also shines a light on the all-around production, as you can expect him to catch his fair share of wheel and flare routes down the sidelines as well in a McCarthy led offense.
