It appears DeMarcus Lawrence is doing DeMarcus Lawrence-type things early into training camp. And that’s great to hear after a somewhat down-year statically for Tank, who registered just 5.0 sacks in 2019.

Granted, the bar is set pretty high considering Lawrence racked up a combined 25.0 sacks over the previous two years. Despite the low sack total from last season, his presence on the left side of the line allowed right defensive end Robert Quinn to record 11.5 sacks and secure a hefty payday as a free agent this offseason.

Earlier this year, Lawrence vowed to get his sack numbers back up in 2020. And his new coaching staff in Dallas should help him do that.

New Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy compared Lawrence to a previous pass rusher he employed with the Green Bay Packers in Julius Peppers. The Cowboys and Tank appear to be experimenting with a two-point stance during training camp, which could result in the 28-year old defender once again posting a double-digit sack total.
