Quarterback Dak Prescott, pressure scale: 6.5

There is always a sense of urgency as a franchise quarterback. Historically speaking, there are only about 20 quarterbacks each season that can say they are a team’s quarterback going forward.

With that said, Dak Prescott who had his best statistical season last year is fairly established as a franchise quarterback. Currently playing on the franchise tag, he will be seeing a hefty paycheck from somebody after this season no matter what.

Will it be the Dallas Cowboys though? With the recently signed contract by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, there is a new ceiling for money in the NFL and it almost touches the Moon.

I don’t believe Prescott is worthy of the $503 million Mahomes could earn over the next decade … no one is. But Dak still has pressure to prove just how much his play is worth. And whether Dallas is the place that will pay him.

Unlike the other players on this list, Prescott could have an absolutely horrible season and still make his money if he can find a way to win playoff games.

Wins are the only stat that matters for Prescott in 2020. I think ten-plus wins and a playoff victory could secure Dak $300 million and the quarterback spot for the next decade in Dallas. Anything less, he’s another team’s quarterback potentially.

Money both ways but success will determine which jersey Prescott has on in 2021. Now that’s pressure.
