The Saving Grace

There is one big reason that can keep Lee around. This is that the Dallas Cowboys have a very talented young roster that can compete for a Super Bowl.

He has yet to win a Super Bowl since you know … Dallas hasn’t won a Super Bowl. Having the opportunity to win one could and should be what keeps him around.

Not only would he benefit, but the Cowboys would benefit as well. If the linebacker was to leave, then that would thrust either Joe Thomas or Justin March into the starting role.

I’m very sure anyone would much rather have the very reliable Lee in that slot. That is as long as he remains healthy.

I think Lee will continue to play unless a couple of things happen. If he suffers another bad injury, or if the Cowboys collapse, then he will leave. If Dallas competes as they are expected to, then the veteran Sean Lee will remain with the Dallas Cowboys.

If Lee does decide to stick around, then how much longer will he? He signed a one-year contract to stick with the team this season, and would likely continue the one-year-deals if he stays with the team.

I can’t see him playing beyond the age of 35. This would mean that the 2021 season would be his last in the NFL. While I would love for Lee to stick around for longer, I can’t see his body being able to hold up. His mind is still and will continue to go at an elite rate, but his body is what will force him to retire.

Who knows? Maybe Sean Lee can remain with Dallas but as a coach instead of a player. That way he can continue as a Cowboy, and not have his body slow him down. Would you like to see Lee patrol the sidelines as a coach in the future? Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
