The Dallas Cowboys hold the fort. The Seattle Seahawks get their man. Who is the winner in this blockbuster trade? Let’s discuss this.

You have to give the Dallas Cowboys credit. Jamal Adams, the All-Pro safety, wasn’t backing away from his trade demands. And it turns out, the Cowboys weren’t entertaining the thought of mortgaging their future for the 24-year-old.

Credit goes to the owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, and the staff around him. Since getting tagged with the safety rumors all offseason, it turns out the combo of Adams and the Cowboys was a solid possibility.

I spelled out three possible trade scenarios about a month ago. The Dallas Cowboys didn’t bite. But, the Seattle Seahawks paid the blockbuster price, and the Adams’ saga concludes. So, who won? More importantly, did anyone lose out in this transaction?

The winner of the Jamal Adams sweepstakes …

Without a doubt, the clear winner here is the New York Jets. The Jets forfeited Adams and a 2022 fourth-round pick. In return, the Jets received from the Seahawks a mega-deal nobody would pass up.

New York gets a first and third-round pick in 2021, and also a first-round pick in 2022. The Jets also received safety Bradley McDougald. The six-foot-one, 29-year-old safety joins his fifth NFL Pro Team. He was an undrafted safety.
