Honorable Mention

These players were close for my pick as potentially the top newcomer but couldn’t crack the top two on my list. These players include safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and cornerback Trevon Diggs.

Dallas has been long waiting for consistent play at safety. They haven’t seen much consistent play since safety Darren Woodson was in uniform, but I think that all changes when Clinton-Dix is roaming the secondary for the boys.

He’s not necessarily a game-changer like safety Jamal Adams or Earl Thomas (sorry to bring them up). But year in and year out he’s consistently good in both tackling and in coverage. Also, he’s yet to miss a game in his career.

Diggs follows as my next honorable mention. Replacing cornerback Byron Jones is not going to be an easy task and I don’t expect Diggs to play up to that level during his rookie year. But I think in the system of defensive coordinator Mike Nolan he will be used for his strengths and be very productive for this Cowboys secondary.

With length, range and the ability to press Diggs will be a pain to deal with at the cornerback position under Nolan’s aggressive scheme.
