5 Cowboys who will miss cancelled preseason games the most
Who on the Dallas Cowboys will be missing out on a canceled/reduced preseason?
The preseason is often looked at as practice games and doesn’t mean much to some people or players. It’s a warmup for some, and an opportunity for others. The Dallas Cowboys know this.
The NFL and the NFLPA have yet to agree on how many or if there should be any preseason games. What we do know is there will be a maximum of two games, down from four games the previous seasons.
One of the highlights of the preseason is seeing prospects get the opportunity to put on a show. Or, maybe it can be a signed free agent adjusting to their new team. Who on the Dallas Cowboys is missing out on a canceled/reduced preseason?
CB, Daryl Worley
Heading into the 2020 season as the third-highest-paid defensive back in Dallas is Daryl Worley. The 25-year-old signed with the Cowboys this past offseason with hopes of being a valuable asset.
He split his first four seasons between the Carolina Panthers and the Oakland Raiders. With experience playing both safety and corner, he is looked at as a player that can be utilized in many different ways.
The defensive backs in Dallas have a lot of questions with cornerback Byron Jones leaving for Miami, and the safety positions still posing some questions. That is where Worley plans to make his mark.
While the Cowboys do have two safeties already penned to be the starters, they can look at using Worley as a “third safety” option. He can also split snaps in the slot position with Jourdan Lewis.
The Cowboys don’t have a star within their defensive backs, but they do have a lot of good depth players that have an upside. That is the issue with Worley, separating himself from the many others battling for a rotation spot.
Because of the $2.97 cap hit, he may see himself as a possible cut candidate if he doesn’t solidify himself. There are other cheaper options right behind him.
The best thing for Worley to lean on is the sturdy production he has at the NFL level already. In all four seasons, he had at least seven pass breakups and one interception, along with three seasons of 50+ tackles.
