Do the Dallas Cowboys have the best offense in the NFL?
The Dallas Cowboys have offensive weapons everywhere. Are they the best in the NFL?
While having a great defense is something that helps wins games, it is a great offense that puts pressure on the opposing team. If you can’t score, you can’t win. The Dallas Cowboys have offensive weapons everywhere and are looked at as one of the best in the league.
Other teams have great offenses in the NFL, but it seems like some things stand out in the Big D. Do the Cowboys boast the best offense in the league?
The most crucial part of any offense is the player that runs it, and in football that is the quarterback. The Cowboys have Dak Prescott set to be slinging the ball in 2020.
Over the years, Dak has had a ton of criticism despite having great performances. He just finished a season that saw him place second in passing yards, fifth in yards per passing attempt, 15th in completion percentage, and 10th in passer rating.
It is his best season yet, where he proved he can throw the deep ball while maintaining his stud short passing game. When he has no open receiver, he can run the ball with his career 5.1 yards per rushing attempt. He has shown the ability to be a top-five quarterback in the league.
There were only seven teams that had multiple people with 1,000+ receiving yards in 2019, and the Cowboys are one of them. To catch the ball for Dak are two 1,000 yard receivers in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.
Cooper is one of the better route runners in the league that also has good speed and hands at a young age of 26 years old. Gallup is only 24 but is burning cornerbacks with his speed and explosiveness.
Just drafted to the Cowboys is CeeDee Lamb, arguably the best wideout in the 2020 NFL draft. He has decent speed along with amazing hands and the ability to high point the football.
At tight end, Blake Jarwin takes the reins from longtime Cowboy Jason Witten. While Jarwin hasn’t had that many opportunities, he owns a 75.6 percent catching percentage and 11.6 yards per reception.
Along the offensive line, Dallas lost center Travis Frederick, but have All-Pro linemen Tyron Smith and Zack Martin returning. Not to mention a rising La’el Collins and a young and sturdy Connor Williams. They remain one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
The biggest name of them all is at running back with Ezekiel Elliott. The two-time rushing yards leader is arguably the best back in the game, accompanied by a young stud in Tony Pollard. Pollard ran for 455 yards and two touchdowns averaging 5.3 yards per rushing attempt with limited snaps.
There is no sure hole in the Cowboys offense. For that reason, they are in the conversation of being amongst the best groups in the league.
But are the Dallas Cowboys actually the best?
When you think of the best offenses in the league, you think of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and the Cowboys. Let’s cut to the chase.
When you think of the teams listed other than the Cowboys, you automatically think of their offense as a running or passing offense. The Ravens run, the 49ers run, the Chiefs pass, and the Buccaneers pass.
When you look at the Cowboys, you can see that they can dominate any team through both the passing or the run game. With arguably the best running back, offensive line, and receiving corps, the opposing defense can’t look at knocking off one specific thing in the Cowboys offense.
That is what separates Dallas from the other teams listed above. No other NFL team ranks high in both categories, but the Cowboys do.

The Ravens, Cowboys, and 49ers are top five in rushing yards. For passing yards, the Ravens are 29th in the league and the 49ers are 17th in the league. The Cowboys rank third in the NFL for passing yards.
The Buccaneers and the Chiefs also rank in the top five in passing yards. For rushing yards, they rank 24th and 23rd in the league respectively.
You can see that the Cowboys are at the top for passing and rushing offense. The other four teams, however, rank in the top five in one category but are not even in the top half of the league for the other.
For this reason, the Cowboys must walk away with the best overall offense in the league. Sure, you can argue over who has the best passing or rushing offense, but overall Dallas has the best offense in the NFL.
