Can the Dallas Cowboys land safety Jamal Adams and stomach the price tag?

Safety Jamal Adams is back in the headlines. He wants to go home to the Dallas Cowboys. Until a transaction goes down for Adams, which sees the stellar safety shipped out of New York, the heat in the media will not cease.

In fact, the thirst for this safety will continue to rise. Jamal Adams is fed up with his employer, the New York Jets, and wants to take his services elsewhere. Well, the safety has a plethora of options to continue his NFL journey.

One of these potential stops may include the City of Brotherly Love. During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys received the steal of the night by drafting wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. The Philadelphia Eagles attempted to trade with Dallas to land Lamb with the 17th overall pick.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones put an end to that, drafting arguably the most talented receiver in the entire draft. Four picks later, the Eagles drafted wide receiver, Jalen Reagor, out of TCU.

Will the Eagles strike back by taking Adams away from the Dallas Cowboys? It would be a poetic way for the Eagles to get some revenge on their NFC East foe. Also, the move would make sense.

The Dallas Cowboys are threatening the division with a triple threat attack from their receiver core (Michael Gallup, Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb). By landing Adams, the Eagles supplement their defense and contend with Dallas two times per year.

If the Dallas Cowboys do approach trade negotiations with the Jets, what will the package look like? Even if Big D lands the prized safety, the 24-year-old will end up being the highest-paid safety in the NFL at some point.

After giving up some pie for quarterback Dak Prescott, can the ‘Boys entertain paying Adams $15 to $17 per year down the road? But before we even get to that point, the Cowboys have to offer some trade value to land Adams in the first place.

Let’s take a look a three possible trade scenarios …
