Chidobe Awuzie, CB

The highest-drafted player on this list, starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie figured to be the favorite to replace Byron Jones as the Cowboys’ top cornerback heading into 2020. After all, Awuize has started opposite Jones for more than two seasons.

A second-round selection out of Colorado in 2017, Awuize flashed potential as a rookie after a hamstring injury limited him to 10 games and six starts. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 78.4 after he recorded 25 tackles, seven pass deflections, and an interception that first year.

Unfortunately, Awuzie has been unable to top that PFF score over his last two seasons, recording just two interceptions since 2018. Like every other defender on this list, the 25-year old cornerback must prove his worth to an entirely new coaching staff which includes new defensive back coaches Maurice Linguist and Al Harris.

Next. Five Cowboys who may not survive final cuts. dark

Throw in the fact the Dallas Cowboy recently re-signed Anthony Brown to three-year $15.5 million deal and used a second-round selection on Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs in the 2020 NFL Draft, and suddenly Chidobe Awuzie’s job security heading into the final year of his current contract in Dallas is starting to look shaky.
