Dallas Cowboys: 10 final thoughts on the 2020 NFL Draft
3. In Da Boat
Let’s talk about that boat! With how the Dallas Cowboys drafted in 2020, there’s no reason owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, to not draft again on his yacht, the $250 million draft war room.
America’s Team may have stolen the 2020 NFL Draft, but clearly, Jones is the real winner. Love him or hate him, he sure does know how to out splash himself.
4. A Mike McCarthy reboot
The first step to ushering in a new era is to wipe away the stains of old. The Dallas Cowboys, led by Mike McCarthy, won me over without even playing a down of football. Heading into the NFL Draft, I was curious to see McCarthy’s footprint.
The arteries of the Cowboys are looking different, which is something that has to fire up the fan base. You have to wonder how things would have differed if Jason Garrett was still in command. The breath of fresh air is a relief. And to that, you just have to clap and clap.
5. No safety in CeeDee Lamb?
Look, I get everyone is feeling the sprinkles and euphoria with wide receiver sensation, CeeDee Lamb. I get it. I feel it as well.
If you recall, I commented that taking a receiver in the first round was a potential mistake. I’ll most likely eat crow for that write-up, and actually, I’m happy to be wrong in that instance.
At the same token, let’s applaud the Dallas Cowboys on drafting two cornerbacks, Neville Gallimore at DT, and defensive end Bradlee Anae from Utah. These picks certainly make the pillow softer each night.
I had my sights on Xavier McKinney for the safety spot. The Alabama product slipped to the second round to the New York Giants. He was selected 36th overall. Did the Cowboys make the right call? Absolutely. Still, I’m greedy (read: crazy) for the safety position.
