1. K’Lavon Chaisson | LSU | Edge | 17th overall

The LSU product took a tumble. He’s arguably a top 10 draft pick nominee. So, with him falling to number 17, it was a no-brainer to nab the speedy edge rusher.

I wanted to grab a cornerback with the first pick, but C.J. Henderson from Florida was off the board. But I don’t consider Chaisson a “Plan B” option here. The Cowboys get a quick sack artist who has tremendous upside.

Chaisson stands at six-foot-three with long arms to interfere quarterback lanes. Born in Houston, Texas, the pass rusher had two solid seasons with LSU. He tore his ACL in 2018 season opener but returned to form in 2019.

In 2019, he accumulated 60 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble. Chaisson is athletic with a bright future. Tagged up with Aldon Smith, the pair have a chance to benefit from each other.

The Cowboys need more tools to get to the quarterback. Chaisson would be a nice addition, but realistically, I don’t see him falling to the 17th spot for Dallas. If anything, if he starts to slip on draft night, I’d expect another team to trade up for the LSU rusher.
