The Dallas Cowboys defensive line is taking a hit this offseason. Many people are expecting Dallas to address the defensive line during the draft, but what do they have on their roster right now?

Well, 2019 second-round pick, Trysten Hill is awaiting an opportunity to showcase himself. He rarely got any snaps, outside Week 1 and Week 2.

Let’s just say the Cowboys are unable to find the right lineman around their picks. The soon departure of defensive end Robert Quinn leaves a starting spot along the line open (likely for Tyrone Crawford).

Then think about the expired contracts of tackles Maliek Collins and Antwaun Woods. Seeing Hill get an increase in a role becomes that much more realistic.

The 21-year-old is very young with a ton of potential. After all, he played well in college. That is when his coaching staff allowed him to play amid problems over maturity and character.

That is a possibility that may have factored into his lowly snap count. It may also have to do with Quinn returning from suspension in Week 3 and eating up snaps.

Regardless, it can’t be a bad thing to give him some snaps and see what he does. The Cowboys need to keep in mind his young age and mold him into a long term solution. Part of that could be Hill watching from the sidelines.

I don’t expect that to happen though, especially after the low snap count last season. This season should be one that gives him more opportunities so he can learn as he plays.
