With the 233rd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select …

Chauncey Rivers, DE – Mississippi State

Career Stats: 67 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks.

Head coach Mike McCarthy has stated that he is looking to add more defensive ends to the Dallas Cowboys rotation. With both Robert Quinn and the Cowboys both wanting a reunion and the potential for Randy Gregory to return if reinstated this season the Cowboys are looking pretty good on depth. But you can never have too many pass rushers.

Rivers would give the Cowboys a nice rotational piece for the Cowboys to use when giving players a breather. Teams will over look him due to his height (6’2), but teams did the same thing with Carl Lawson but during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals he’s been a productive player. Rivers plays the same style as Lawson though he lacks the speed that Lawson has.

What Rivers lacks in speed he makes up for in power and pass rush moves, he also is a strong running game defender which will come in handy for the Cowboys. Rivers could develope into a very good player for the Cowboys but in the mean time having him come on to spell players will give him the experience needed to get better.
