The Dallas Cowboys made headlines while at the NFL Scouting Combine. But it’s the things going on behind the scenes that are really interesting.

The Dallas Cowboys made headlines at the NFL Scouting Combine thanks to comments made by vice president of player personnel Stephen Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy about quarterback Dak Prescott, receiver Amari Cooper, and cornerback Byron Jones while at the event. We’ll address their situations later.

But the meetings they are having with prospects behind the scenes should be getting more attention. These are the players that will help fill out this roster and potentially a future building block going forward with this young team.

This list will only continue to grow with the team’s official 30 visits, pro days, private workouts and Dallas Day all to come. So it’s still very early in the process for the Cowboys as they continue to build their draft board.

But the meetings that they had at the NFL Scouting Combine will start to shed some light on how the front office and coaching staff feel about the current state of their team. Each of these players give a little clarity as to how they are going to go about attacking the NFL Draft in a few months.

A process that all teams are currently going through, but they are also keeping track of other teams meetings and visits for players they also have interest in. So some of these players could be guys that aren’t really on the Cowboys radar while some are their real targets.

It’s a fun game of cat and mouse each team including the Cowboys are going to play until they are on the clock to pick.
