Talk to Dak’s Agent

One of the great things about the NFL scouting combine, outside the combine itself, is most agents are there representing their prospects. This is an opportunity for teams to talk to the agent about a contract situation on their roster or a pending free agent on the market.

In this case, Todd France, quarterback Dak Prescott‘s agent, is at the combine. They can use this opportunity to strike a deal and end the dispute.

I wrote an article describing how franchising Dak has an impact on the entire Dallas Cowboys organization, not just him. In there I describe how the longer the Cowboys wait to sign Dak, the more it will hurt the team.

It has already been reported that the Cowboys did have a meeting with France. This is a good sign, but the deal hasn’t been finished yet.

While it’s great that they had a meeting and talked a little bit more for the first time in a while, there is more to go over. If they can have one or two more meetings to get deeper into talks, then it will be beneficial for the Cowboys.

Both sides are going to need to make some compromises to come to a deal. Dallas won’t get the term they want and Dak won’t get the money he wants. That is the only way a deal will be put into place.

These meetings are crucial to ensure a deal is done sooner rather than later. With many other key free agents, this deal needs to be done. It has a direct impact on those needing a new contract.

The sooner Prescott is dealt with, the sooner the rest can be dealt with. from there, we can begin to look toward the upcoming season.

The NFL Scouting Combine is filled with a lot more than people believe. Franchises have a lot to deal with and keep their eyes on. We will see what the Dallas Cowboys come up with within the next couple of months for the prospects and the pending free agents.
