The Dallas Cowboys are going to be in the market for tight ends. Here are a few prospects to keep an eye one in the 2020 NFL Draft.

We know the Dallas Cowboys are going to be in the market for tight ends this offseason and for good reason. New head coach Mike McCarthy loves having a tight end that can block and create mismatches whether he’s on the line or spread out wide.

Knowing this you can expect the Cowboys to be players in the 2020 NFL Draft and in free agency. So here are two early round tight end prospects you should get to know and keep an eye on in this draft.

Albert Okwuegbunam

Missouri
Height: 6-5
Weight: 255lbs
Career Stats: 98 receptions, 1,187 yards, and 23 touchdowns

I mocked Okwuegbunam to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month and my thought of him being on the Cowboys radar hasn’t changed. A complete tight end with the ability to stretch the field and help in run blocking that reminds me of a young Antonio Gates.

As I’ve said before McCarthy likes to have mismatch tight ends and Okwuegbunam is just that. If the Cowboys are going to try and draft him though they will need to do so in either the second or third rounds if he falls to them.

Brycen Hopkins

Purdue
Height: 6-5
Weight: 245 lbs
Career Stats: 130 receptions, 1,945 yards, and 16 touchdowns

Hopkins reminds me a lot of current Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. His ability to beat linebackers and safeties by running effective routes combined with his ability to create separation makes him a player the Cowboys could and should be looking at.

Giving quarterback Dak Prescott another weapon like Hopkins would elevate this offense to new heights. If the Cowboys want to draft Hopkins they will need to pull the trigger in either the third or fourth rounds.
