Mike Nolan Pro’s

Mike Nolan’s defenses are known for being aggressive upfront and in the secondary. That aggressiveness lead to his defenses creating a significant amount of takeaways.

The one thing you can say about this Dallas Cowboys defense is that they aren’t creating takeaways ranking in the bottom of the NFL regularly. So if Nolan can get this defense to create more turnovers and give the offense a short field that’s a huge win.

Nolan is going to have two of the best young linebackers in the NFL next season in Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith.

During his time with the New Orleans Saints, Nolan as the linebackers coach was able to turn around a run defense that ranked at the bottom of the NFL thanks in part to the play of their linebackers. If he can do the same for the Cowboys with that’s another big win for a defense that couldn’t stop the run late in the season.

Nolan has experience running both a 3-4 defense and a 4-3 defense and that could come in handy for the Cowboys in the future.

This defense over the past few years so just so vanilla and easy for offenses to figure out. Nolan can use that experience to better disguise the defense and give them a better shot of confusing quarterbacks.
