Unveiling the Dallas Cowboys 2010-19 All-Decade Team
By Tyrone Starr
Defensive backs – Brandon Carr (2012-2016), Orlando Scandrick (2010-17), Byron Jones (2015-19), Barry Church (2010-16)
Another position that the Dallas Cowboys have seemingly been lackluster forever made selecting four players for the All-Decade team difficult. This is, without discussion, the hardest of all positions to choose four players to nominate.
Even though Carr did not do what was hoped he would when he was brought in as a $50 million free-agent in 2012, he was not as bad as some might make him out to be either. Carr never missed a game in his career in Dallas, picking off seven passes in five years.
Scandrick, meanwhile, posted 9.5 sacks and eight interceptions while playing seven seasons during the decade for Dallas. For a short period of time, he was one of the best slot cornerbacks in all of football.
I chose Jones for his versatility and Church because he was a fan favorite. Both are/were good players but neither would be what you would consider elite.
Jones played his first three seasons at safety, earned a Pro-Bowl honor in 2018 and regressed in the final year of the decade. Church mostly played the role of enforcer as safety for seven seasons in Dallas. He is currently 15th all-time in tackles for the Dallas Cowboys franchise.
So there you have it, the 2010-19 All-Decade team. Feel free to leave your thoughts on any omissions or changes you feel should have been made.
