The Dallas Cowboys lost the game of the year 17-9 in Philadelphia. Everything this season has been off with this team, so let us take a deeper look into it.

The Dallas Cowboys failed to show up once again when it mattered the most on Sunday, dropping the game of the year 17-9 to the Philadelphia Eagles. A year that had so much potential is now turned into a year that everyone wants to forget ever happened.

The Cowboys have been disappointing all season long in all three phases in the game. Let me lay out what I believe is wrong with the 2019 Dallas Cowboys.

Dak Prescott, QB

Yes, quarterback Dak Prescott has had himself a very good year in his fourth year as the Dallas quarterback. It was just about four to five weeks ago his name was in the middle of the MVP conversation. Since then, he has been off.

His play could be worse, but my main concern is the inability to make big plays when the Cowboys absolutely need it. The Cowboys have had many potential game-winning/game-tying drives late in the fourth quarter this year (Jets, Vikings, Patriots, Eagles) and Dak has been unable to get the ball in the endzone.

Another food for thought, Dak has been yet to prove to us that he can single-handedly win football games when throwing the ball 40+ times a game.

Amari Cooper, WR

I mean, where in the world did the real Amari Cooper go? Cooper is a superstar receiver, but he has crippled the Cowboys by not showing up down the stretch, especially on the road. This was a major concern for Cooper when he came to Dallas, his up and down play and we are seeing it right now as the season flashes before our eyes.

Jason Witten, TE

Jason Witten embodies what is wrong with the Dallas Cowboys mentality. A player who is too comfortable in the locker room and is not afraid of any consequence. Not to mention he cannot catch anymore. Big Witt, we love you but it is time to retire for good.

DeMarcus Lawrence, DE

The highest-paid player in Cowboys franchise history is also playing like your average NFL defensive end. DeMarcus Lawrence has been an absolute disappointment this year, to say the least.

I understand D-Law gets double-teamed a lot but at this point, that is not an excuse. Do you really think other elite defensive ends are not getting double-teamed? His 5.0 sacks so far this year does not quite add up to the 10.5 he had in 2018, and the 14.5 he recorded in 2017.

Chris Jones, P

Not many people have talked about the poor play of punter Chris Jones, but it needs to be addressed. The poor punting has put the Dallas defense in terrible positions all year and usually results in points for the other team.

I honestly think in Sunday’s game versus the Eagles, the Eagles elected for the re-punt (after the penalties and confusion by the referees) because they knew Jones is a liability, and what do you know? He hits a 35-yard punt that gives the Eagles great field position.

Jason Garrett and the coaching staff

I am going to try to keep this as short as possible because everyone knows where this is headed. Head coach Jason Garrett has been absolutely atrocious this season and quite honestly that is not shocking given his track record. His cowardliness and inability to put his foot down and make in-game adjustments are mind-boggling.

We all know Garrett will be gone once the season is over. But you would think he should be out there coaching for his dignity. I do not think I will ever understand how Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb are on the sidelines watching a 4th and 8 play with your season on the line and the reasoning is rotation?

Do you think Michael Irvin or Dez Bryant or any elite wide receiver would ever be lost in the rotation? Just terrible. You call a timeout, let everyone catch their breath and talk the play over.

To say the least, this season has been simply bad. Do you agree? If so, tell me way the Dallas Cowboys haven’t been able to live up to even average expectations this year and who do you blame for it in the comment section below.
