Seven Dallas Cowboys named finalists for Hall of Fame’s centennial class

The Pro Football Hall of Fame released a list of 38 finalists for its centennial class of 2020. Among the nominees were seven members of the Dallas Cowboys.

On Thursday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame revealed 38 finalists for their special centennial class of 2020. This group includes seniors, coaches, and contributors. Seven of which are former members of the Dallas Cowboys.

It’s all part of a one-time, 20-person class. Five of which will be players from the modern era. Out of this recently revealed group of 38 candidates, only 15 will be selected for enshrinement. That will include 10 seniors, three contributors, and two coaches. That final vote will take place next month.

Under the Coaches category, former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson has been nominated. Johnson coached America’s Team from 1989 until 1993, leading Dallas to two Super Bowl victories.

Former Cowboys running back Dan Reeves is also being nominated, but as an NFL coach for the Denver Broncos, the New York Giants, and the Atlanta Falcons. Reeves played in Dallas from 1965 to1972 and later became an assistant for the team.

Under the Seniors category, wide receiver Drew Pearson (1973-1983), safety Cliff Harris (1970-79), and wide receiver Harold Carmichael (1984) will all be voted on as potential additions to the Hall of Fame in 2020.

Under the Contributors category, founder and former owner of the Cowboys Clint Murchison (1960-1983) has been nominated. Along with Frank “Bucko” Kilroy, a scout for Dallas from 1965-1970.

The Cowboys currently have a total of 25 former players, coaches, and executives in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The latest inductees from Dallas include current owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, and longtime vice president of player personnel, Gil Brandt.
