In the ultimate ranking of fandoms from sports to entertainment, the FanSided 250 ranks Dallas Cowboys fans as the top team fandom in the entire NFL.
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most popular sports entities on Earth. And they possess an equally massive and passionate fan base that makes their games among the most-watched television shows across the entire entertainment industry.
And despite their lack of recent Super Bowl success, the support the Cowboys receive from their fans, especially on the road, is enormous. So much so, it can be difficult to quantify. But that hasn’t stopped FanSided from trying to do so.
On Tuesday, FanSided released its FanSided 250 list which ranks the hottest, most buzz-worthy fandoms across the world of sports and entertainment.
The FanSided 250 used the Cowboys most well-known fan, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, as the prime example of why Dallas owns the hottest fandom above all the other NFL teams in 2019.
"“Despite famously growing up in Akron, Ohio, LeBron James is a Cowboys fan, representative of the national draw of America’s Team. But LeBron is just one of close to a million fans that pack AT&T Stadium every year to cheer on the Cowboys, or the 4.2 million fans that follow on social media and rep the Star every day with unabashed and undying passion.”"
The Cowboys fandom ranked 17th overall on the FanSided 250, tops among all NFL franchises. The Los Angeles Lakers’ own LeBron James himself ranked 19th, two spots behind America’s Team. Dallas has surprising staying power despite their lack of playoff success and the fact they haven’t won a championship since 1996.
Other notable NFL teams included on the FanSided 250 ranking behind the Cowboys include the New Orleans Saints fandom at 28, Cleveland Browns fans at 30, and the Kansas City Chiefs fan base at 36.
Topping the FanSided 250 was Marvel, which isn’t a huge surprise after the massive success of the movie Avengers: Endgame this summer, a culmination of 22 previous films in the decade long series.
Some of the celebrities, teams, and musical group fandoms ranking ahead of Dallas Cowboys Nation on the list include the New York Yankees, the Toronto Raptors, BTS, the New Orleans Pelicans’ Zion Williamson, Star Wars, Beyonce, the HBO series Game of Thrones, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The Dallas Cowboys currently sit atop the NFC East with a disappointing record of 6-7 and are tied with the 6-7 Philadelphia Eagles with only three games to go. Despite their down season, the fact the FanSided 250 crowned the Cowboys as having the most buzz-worthy, hottest fandom in the NFL this year says a lot about their extremely loyal fan base.
